The size of this project varies because of its carefree nature. The sections are cut in a free-form style, creating a quilt unique to each artist. For comparison, the sample is 26” x 33”. Supplies List Foundation - Black tone-on-tone, about 20” x 24”. Only a small portion of this fabric will be visible. One Fat Quarter each of three colors, close in hue for background curves. For example, blue, blue-green and blue-violet. Select a light, a medium and a dark. We will be using smallish sections of most of these fabrics, so don’t worry too much if you don’t have an exact fat quarter of each. If you are uncertain about your color choices, bring your fabrics to class for guidance, assistance, assurance, etc. One Fat Quarter contrast for the bubbles. Select a light and either a medium or dark of the same color. You will also be making bubbles for one of the swirl fabrics. Choose a dark for this, and only a small amount. Leftovers from the swirls are fine. 2 yards of either Wonder-Under or Misty Fuse. Please, no Heat & Bond or Steam-A- Seam.mSolid black for borders – 24”.
Batting and backing, approximately 28” X 35”. Pencil, fabric and paper scissors; 28mm rotary cutter if you have one, otherwise your 45mm will work; 11” X 17” or larger mat; iron; pressing sheet; sewing machine. OPTIONAL – decorative threads, color wheel. NOT OPTIONAL – a sense of humor, an open mind and a willingness to try something outside your comfort zone! We will have a great day and a *ton* of fun!
